New York Rangers can clinch playoff spot after 4-3 win over Flyers

April 11, 2010

By defeating the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-3 on Friday night in their last home game of the regular season, the Rangers are one win away from completing a stunning turnaround and qualifying for the playoffs after being 7 points out with 10 games to go in the season. They went on a 7-1-1 (wins-losses-overtime losses) streak to tie the Flyers in the standings, who they’ll play again in the regular-season finale this afternoon. Win, and they’ll face the Washington Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. Lose, and they’ll miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.
