New York Liberty playoffs start tonight
The Liberty, the WNBA‘s New York team, faces the Indiana Fever at 7pm tonight at Madison Square Garden for Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs. New York finished the regular season 22-12, with an 11-1 record in their final 12 games. The team, which played in the WNBA Finals in four of the league’s first six seasons (1997-2002), hopes to return to glory with an appearance in the Finals, and if their stellar play continues, their first championship.
Yesterday, Maddie, the Liberty mascot, boarded the M60 bus in the Upper West Side and took a ride through Harlem to spread the word and hand out playoff tickets to passengers. Photos by Avi Gerver, ©Madison Square Garden, L.P.
