The Lunar Eclipse of a Lifetime
December 21, 2010
Early this morning (on the East Coast of the United States) I photographed a celestial phenomenon I likely won’t see again in my lifetime: a total lunar eclipse coinciding with the Winter Solstice. According to NASA, the previous such eclipse took place back in 1638 (with no record of any other one in the past 2000 years), and the next one will occur in 2094. I expect to see many more total lunar eclipses, but barring a breakthrough in medical science, never again on the longest night of the year.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avi, i am so glad that you were up and took marvelous photos of the luna eclipse. Regretfully, I slept through it.
Just lovely! Thanks for staying up so that I didn’t have to!
looking for an intern?? :) Your photography is amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like it! I don’t have an intern, but could have used a team of them to take turns manning the camera on the building rooftop. It was coooooooooold!
