New York Rangers defeat New York Islanders, 4-2

The New York Rangers kept pace in the race for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders last night at Madison Square Garden. Currently in 4th place, they’ll have a chance to leap to #1 with a win over the conference-leading Philadelphia Flyers tonight at MSG and a Boston loss. The Rangers will get to face the Flyers again in an outdoor hockey game, the “Winter Classic,” on January 2nd in Philadelphia.
