New York Rangers defeat Detroit Red Wings in overtime, 2-1
The New York Rangers, behind a strong performance by goalie Henrik Lundqvist and an overtime goal by team captain and birthday boy Ryan Callahan, defeated the Western Conference perennial powerhouse Detroit Red Wings 2-1 last night at Madison Square Garden. The win, coming on the heels of the team’s playoff-clinching victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, was their first against the Red Wings since 2003. The Rangers will wrap up their seven game homestand tomorrow night when the Buffalo Sabres visit MSG. Photos by Avi Gerver, ©Madison Square Garden, L.P.
