New York Rangers defeat Detroit Red Wings in overtime, 2-1

March 22, 2012

The New York Rangers, behind a strong performance by goalie Henrik Lundqvist and an overtime goal by team captain and birthday boy Ryan Callahan, defeated the Western Conference perennial powerhouse Detroit Red Wings 2-1 last night at Madison Square Garden. The win, coming on the heels of the team’s playoff-clinching victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, was their first against the Red Wings since 2003.
