Here’s a cool portrait of a praying mantis I took last Tuesday down in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. I got this one shot off before the little insect noticed my big camera right in his face and crawled into the shade.

Photo tech specs: Canon 5D Mark III camera, 24-70mm f2.8 II lens with 12mm extension tube @ 70mm, f11, 1/640th, ISO 200.

    Mantis looks so cute, but indeed they are unpleasant for me. It seems, mantis smiles.
