Photo of the Week #198
Here’s a cool shot of the throngs of New York City media in attendance for last Tuesday’s big press conference introducing Phil Jackson as the new Knicks team president. Jackson brings with him high hopes for a franchise whose only two championships came over 40 years ago when he was a player on the team. Following his retirement in 1980, Jackson built a legendary resume as a head coach, amassing a record 11 championships with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers and record .704 career winning percentage, but he has never played the role of team executive. Time will tell if he can construct a championship contender out of a team that has won just a single playoff series since 2000.
