Photo of the Week #234

January 20, 2015

I stepped a little out of my comfort zone last week and took some product shots for Mendocino, California-based Mendocino Soups, a company that prides itself on preparing natural soups brimming with fresh and complex flavors, free of artificial preservatives. Tasked with capturing photos of various soups alongside their key ingredients, I scoured my local produce markets for items like coconut and ginger “with character.”

It definitely took longer than I expected to arrange all the ingredients just so, but I’m pleased with the results, especially this one of Thai Fish Stew. The best part? Delicious soup all week!

Photo tech specs: Canon 5D Mark III camera, 70-200mm f2.8 II lens @ 102mm, f8, 1/160th, ISO 100, lit with Canon 550EX flash in Paul C. Buff 64″ Soft Silver PLM with diffusion fabric, pair of 550EX flashes lighting white seamless, Home Depot Thrifty White Hardboard Panel Board underneath products.
